company, citing a decline in sales and pretax income in the
company's Australian operations.

The maker of communications chips agreed to buy closely held
NewPort Communications Inc. for about $1.24 billion in stock to
expand its line of networking products.
CSG Systems International, down $3.687 to $42.313
The provider of billing services for the communications industry
announced that Chief Financial Officer Greg Parker has resigned.
Kana Communications, up $2.187 to $35.125
The software developer will provide Cisco Systems with
communications-management software for Cisco's customer service.
